behindyukihiroleather:

This is a concept project I named FUTURE STATE with the inspiration coming from my love of Sci fi and futurism.
Bag, clothing, helmet and belt all designed hand made by me~ YUKIHIRO.
I also had the fun of styling it at the shoot… it is literally a little peak into my imagination.

Just a sample of my most recent work with YUKIHIRO.

When nobody is watching, I strip my soul bare, shed my clothes and I pretend. I pretend that you can see me, that you are watching me and yet I pretend like I don’t know you are there. I lay back and stretch, feeling your eyes on my body, half in light and shadow. I do this every night. Some people pray, I bare my soul and body to the night. I know you can’t see me. I know you never will, but I do it just the same.
Half in shadow, half in light, I bare myself to you.

A fashionable bar somewhere in Europe. The location doesn’t matter. All that matters is you. You are young and confident. Strong, smooth and good looking. The world is yours, all you have to do is take it. You run your eyes across the room, checking the competition and the “talent”. This is your ritual, the way you hunt. Prospects are good this evening. As your eyes drift back across the room you notice her. Tonight, she is the one. The most gorgeous woman in the room. Perhaps the most gorgeous woman you have ever seen. Long dark hair, luscious lips, curves to make any man weep and a killer stare. You notice the stare because she is looking right at you. But, something is wrong. Under her gaze you find that your legs are frozen. Drink poised half way to your mouth, you are unable to move.
The girl… No… The woman with the killer stare starts to walk across the room. The people in the bar move apart to let her through, as if some force is pushing them away. Within a heartbeat she is by your side, her body so close you almost forget to breathe. You are aware of her spell but there is nothing you can do. You want to take the power back, take control but, before you can speak her lips part…
“Buy me a drink”.
You hear the words but they are coming through a fog. You don’t comprehend. She looks down and touches the bag in your hand, her fingers trailing over the leather straps…
“I said, buy me a drink”.
Her fingers continue to trail little patterns over the leather straps of the bag, sometimes letting her fingers brush over the skin of your hand. Of course, a drink!
“Nice bag”.
Somehow you find your voice.
“It’s a…” “YUKIHIRO. Yes, I know”.
The night blurs. Morning approaches through eyes coated in sand. You don’t remember drinking that much, but you must have. Movement at the end of the bed causes memories to come crashing back and, with sudden, piercing clarity you remember…
“It’s a…” “YUKIHIRO. Yes, I know”.

We’re back

After a long absence, we are finally back and running at full steam. While we haven’t posted anything in the last couple of months we haven’t been sitting around idly twiddling our thumbs. Behind the scenes we have been editing and planning. A lot of new and exciting things coming up in 2014. In addition we are planning on changing the website up a bit. We will be including content from some of our favorite fashion and lifestyle blogs and possibly featuring other artists as well.

Brace yourself, new things are coming!

Nathan.

“A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous.” – Ingrid Bergman

Do you remember what it was like to be in love? For some of us, that first love was a long time ago, but it’s a time we will never forget. The stumbling, bumbling awkwardness and the never ending butterflies, the notes secretly passed in class, the first time holding hands and… that… first… kiss…

Do you remember that?

This photo is a from a shoot we did back in the summer for Hannah. We met Hannah several years ago when she first came to Tokyo. She needed some portfolio shots and, somehow, she found us. We’ve been good friends ever since.

This was Hannah’s goodbye present to her boyfriend, prior to leaving Japan. Before he left the country she wanted to give him a memory; love.

Look at the picture above. Do you remember, now?

Back in September we had the pleasure of working with the stunning Trish Davis, (otherwise known as LaTrish or just Trish), famous for her work in the art nude world. When we met Trish she was looking to do something different from the norm and asked us to put together something a little more “fashion”. We were more than happy to oblige.
These are our favorites from the leather jacket series. There is something incredibly tantalizing in the way she poses and draws us in with her eyes.
Trish, hurry up and come back to Tokyo so we can do more with you!

Apologies for reposting images. We realize you may have seen some of these before but we thought you might appreciate them all together.

Out and about in Nakano on a cool winter’s day. Walking home after a wonderful lunch in Nakano Central Park this was the sky over our heads. We love the winter. Yes, it’s cold, but the air becomes so still and quiet at times it defies explanation. Words just don’t seem adequate. There is a beauty in that stillness.

20131215-192527.jpg

Location: Nakano (Nakano station, North exit).

The black and white version of this shot was created with VSCOcam. Follow our photographer’s personal Instagram account here: http://instagram.com/nateintokyo.

Sometimes, at the end of the day, when you feel tired in your bones, ready to shut out the world as you shut the door and close the blinds, the universe turns around and does this.

Walking to the train station, head down and hands shoved in pockets, I was lost in a sea of gloomy, winter melancholy and then, I stepped into a stream of liquid gold.

I don’t know how many people walking through that small station stopped to admire the light but I… I couldn’t help but stop. I was transfixed just as the station was transformed by everything the light touched. The photographer in me couldn’t help it. Ever since I picked up a camera I’ve been fascinated by light. It creates magic the way nothing else can. And so, entranced by the liquid gold of sunset, I reached for the only camera I had to hand; my iPhone.

The end of the day (above)

Have a great night, everyone.

Nathan

It was a week or so before New York Fashion Week and the sun was shining brightly in Tokyo. Although it would be autumn soon it was still sunglasses and t-shirt kind of weather.
We hadn’t met Yayoi before, we’d just spoken once or twice on the phone and exchanged a few emails. We really liked her work and, it seemed, she liked ours too. Before you know it, we were working out the details of a shoot. We didn’t have long because Yayoi was scheduled to work in New York the following week, so we arranged to meet the Sunday before she left.
Sitting in the sun on a bright afternoon in Roppongi, sipping iced lattes, we waited for Yayoi. With that brilliant smile and long, runway model legs, there was no mistaking her when she arrived.
We spent the whole day walking around Roppongi, shooting at different locations, until the weather turned bad. This shot was taken toward the end of the day as we began to lose the light. Can you work out where? For a clue, check the behind the scenes video on the berrytokyo.com official website).
Thanks Yayoi, we look forward to working with you again when you get back to Japan. Perhaps something for the Winter?
